Welcome to Buttercups Huntsbury Preschool

We are a new, purpose-built facility, situated at 109 Centaurus Road, in Huntsbury, Christchurch. We cater for thirty children, where our passion is to provide a warm, nurturing environment for children between two to five years of age. Buttercups Huntsbury Preschool is a family-owned and operated early childhood service located in a newly built, safe and secure, (fully monitored) facility in Huntsbury, Christchurch. We value and demonstrate commitment to te tiriti o Waitangi.

Our Space

Our Huntsbury facilities provide children with everything they need to prosper. An open plan, spacious main classroom with adjoining deck space for seamless indoor/outdoor flow. A large sandpit and natural environment with a simplistic design so that a variety of resources can be used. We value free play for the children, so our teachers ensure that the learning environment is inviting and encourages freedom of choice.

Our Huntsbury pre school is a beautiful modern and purpose built facility for your children to enjoy. It has been designed to have an inviting 'homely' feel so your children feel welcome and at ease in their learning environment.” We believe in offering outstanding ratios of educators to children, so that a sense of belonging and wellbeing is evident. We are passionate about quality relationships and communication, building social competence and meeting the individual needs of each child.

EXPERIENCED STAFF

All of our teachers are very experienced and early childhood qualified. Our teaching team are all first aid trained and continue to develop their knowledge, by attending regular professional development courses. 
Our team ensures that we meet the needs of your child(ren) at all times. During enrolment, children and their whanau are assigned a key teacher to support the child(ren) as they get to know their peers and settle in to our learning environment. We offer up to three settling visits, completely free of charge, once you are enrolled at Buttercups. 

FREE HOURS AVAILABLE

Looking for an alternative to Kindy? Buttercups Preschool Huntsbury is open throughout the school holidays and offers 20 hours FREE for 3-5 year olds, along with 30 hours for $30.00 for 3-5 year olds.

M.O.E SUBSIDIES

We are committed to offering where applicable the Ministry's of Education 20 hours of ECE funding subsidy . If your child is 3,4 or 5 the cost can be fully subsidised for up to 6 hours a day and up to 20 hours a week. To find out more please contact us

Sarah

Managing Director

Sarah is Managing Director of Buttercups Preschool. She has completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Management) in 2007 and then went on to attain a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood Education) in 2009. Sarah is fully registered and experienced in teaching children under the age of five. As a busy mother of two children, Sarah understands the need for the provision of quality childcare. Sarah has been working on the goal of providing an intimate setting for children to learn, where they are provided with ongoing opportunities within a nurturing, inclusive environment. She is enjoying seeing this vision come to fruition, at Buttercups Preschool.

Whanaungatanga

One of our core values at Buttercups Preschools is whanaungatanga. As described in Te Whāriki, this is a sense of whānau connection – a relationship through shared experiences and working together that provides people with a sense of belonging. At Buttercups Preschool, a sense of belonging is evident each day as we observe and experience so many beautiful interactions. Sunflowers at Buttercups!

We recently planted sunflowers at the front of Buttercups Preschool Huntsbury, Christchurch ! The tamariki have been busy nurturing a variety of seedlings from New World , (thank you to those who gifted us the seeds) and they were ready to plant this week. Along with sunflowers, we also planted other flowers and vegetables in our secret garden!

Recently we had the wonderful Lynette visit us at Buttercups Preschool Huntsbury! Lynette is an Outreach Librarian from Christchurch City Libraries who inspires all of us with her passion for sharing her love of books with children! Nga tamariki are always engaged in the group times and experiences she offers, as they listen carefully and participate together. We love to engage with our community and greatly appreciate Lynette visiting us!
